Alvaro Arbeloa confirms Fulham injury latest before Manchester United clash

Fulham host Manchester United in the final Premier League fixture before the extended international break

Fulham will be without two senior players against Manchester United this weekend, but Ryan Sessegnon could return.

Alvaro Arbeloa’s side are still searching for a first Premier League win of the season as they prepare to host the Red Devils at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon.

Though, of the two teams, Fulham should be in better spirts having held Liverpool to a goalless draw and then beating West Ham in the Carabao Cup over the past week.

Arbeloa made nine changes to the team that started at Anfield for the cup tie and is expected to recall the likes of Bernd Leno, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi and Gonzalo Garcia for the visit of Man United.

However, Kenny Tete will play no part as per concussion protocols, thus joining captain Tom Cairney on the sidelines, while a late decision will be made on Sessesgnon who has missed the last two games with a groin issue.

“Tom is still recovering,” Arbeloa said in the pre-match press conference. “Tete won't be available, after the ball hit him in the Anfield game.

“We need to see if Sess is available for Sunday. I think he will be training with us today, and we will have to make a decision later.”

“I think all of them. All of them did their job, they play very well, and they made a very good effort,” Arbeloa said of the players who came in against the Hammers.

“You see how Cesar Palacios played, Kevin tried his best playing on the right, Hugo’s first game here with our shirt, the two centre-backs, Reedy, Ems – I'm so happy with all of them, because it's not easy when you are waiting for opportunity and you are not playing.

“When the opportunity comes, you need to give your best, but you are not playing every week, so it's not that easy for them. But the way that they play and the energy that they put in the game, I'm really proud of them.

“Obviously, Rodrigo scored a goal. I think he has scored more goals in five games this season than the entire season last year. I'm so happy for all of them.”
