Turkish Super Lig giants Besiktas have launched an ambitious move to sign former Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, officially tabling a lucrative opening contract offer to the Egyptian icon

The Reds hero is a free agent after leaving the Anfield club at the end of last term, with new Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola looking for a replacement.

Following his exit from the Merseyside club, the 34-year-old winger has become one of the most sought-after names on the free-agent market, prompting Besiktas to move decisively in pursuit of a marquee signing.

Negotiations have already advanced beyond the initial stages.

In the first meeting, Salah’s camp requested a net annual salary of €15 million.

While that figure initially stretched Besiktas’s financial parameters, subsequent discussions led to a major breakthrough.

Motivated by a strong desire to embark on a new challenge in Turkey after conquering England with Liverpool, Salah has lowered his wage demands to fit within the Black Eagles’ budget.

To expedite the process, the player’s legal representative has arrived in Istanbul for face-to-face boardroom talks regarding a multi-year deal.

Having completed his international duties at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America—where he helped guide Egypt to the Round of 16—Salah’s future has been the subject of intense speculation, with links to Major League Soccer and the Saudi Pro League.

However, family preferences have given Besiktas a significant advantage, with reports from Turkey indicating that Salah’s family is eager to settle in Istanbul.

Besiktas are keen to secure an elite wide attacker to build a frontline capable of rivalling Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, especially after signing Leandro Trossard.

For the Black Eagles, bringing in a player of Salah’s calibre—who registered 257 goals and 120 assists in 442 appearances for the Reds—would be a clear statement of ambition.

With transfer momentum building at Vodafone Park, a resolution appears imminent.

Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, provided an update, stating, “We could learn very soon where

With the player’s legal team in Istanbul finalising contract terms, the Black Eagles are now strong favourites to pull off one of the most significant transfers in Turkish football history.
