Breaking - Arsenal confirm seventh summer signing as Eberechi Eze joins in £67.5million transfer

Eze will wear the No.10 shirt, rejoining the club nearly one and a half decades after he left the academy . Having been given opportunities with Fulham, Reading and Millwall, he would have to go through a successful trial at QPR as an 18-year-old before finally landing himself a foot in the door of senior football.

Joining Crystal Palace four years later in a deal worth more than £15million that included a sell-on clause that will benefit the London club upon his sale now to Arsenal. It seemed for much of the summer that Eze might join Tottenham instead after the Gunners' interest diminished following Ethan Nwaneri's contract renewal.

However, the move came after Kai Havertz suffered a significant knee injury. Mikel Arteta, however, denied that their reaction in the transfer market was linked to the German international's issue.

"I was accurate, I think it was very clear what I said, that [our business] wasn't done," he said. "Obviously, we were very active trying to look at the possibilities that could come.

"We are not reacting to anything; we've been very prepared and understanding what we could do, and we have decided this is the moment to do it."

Eze could now make his debut for Arsenal against Liverpool at Anfield. The England international can play multiple roles, including the number ten, left eight, and wide left positions.
