Cunha makes worrying Man Utd admission after Fulham draw - 'We cannot accept this'

Matheus Cunha slammed his Manchester United teammates for not working as hard as Fulham in their draw at Craven Cottage. The Red Devils looked to be on their way to another defeat on Sunday afternoon after Lisandro Martinez had put through his own net.

Brazilian forward Cunha popped up late on the steal a late draw, albeit it leaves United with just five points from their opening five games of the season - their joint-worst start to a Premier League campaign ever.

Giving his assessment, Cunha claimed that United were outworked by their hosts. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “So frustrating for us because I feel like in the beginning we put the ball in and created some chances.

"We didn’t score, unlucky, and they scored in like one action that’s hard to explain. A lot of luck. Then you come back and this is frustrating because I feel to be honest after we conceding the goal we played much better with a lot of enthusiasm and effort. It’s only one point. We try to never play for one point.”

He added: “It’s hard to explain. I feel like after the first half we played well. It was how we planned to do it in the beginning of the second half. I feel like they put more into it than us and we cannot accept this. We always play better after conceding a goal but it cannot be like this."

Asked what has to change to get the side back on track, Cunha said: “I have to be honest today I don’t feel like it was about the final decision. We were a bit unlucky. I hit the post. Bruno hit the post. We had other chances. We need to create more and then it will come to us and then we will score more goals.

"Everything we can do to help the team, it's acceptable. When I have the ball, it is not that much difference. Of course we need to improve in every single position. If there is something I can do to help, I will do it."

United's draw at Craven Cottage leaves them with just one win and in 12th in the Premier League. Despite being left frustrated, Cunha has assured that there is still plenty of time for the side to turn things around.

He said: "To be honest, I don't think about outside. I always try to help my teammates. I feel very priviliged to play in this role. It is only the beginning. Last season, there was a lot of noise about and we finished third."
