FC Andorra goalkeeper breaks silence after Jesus de Miguel collision: 'Most difficult days of my life'
Equatoguinean was subjected to racial abuse on social media after tragic incident
Jesus Owono has revealed that he suffered the worst days of his life 24 hours on from his collision with Jesus de Miguel.
The incident, which took place during Tenerife’s game with FC Andorra, saw striker De Miguel crash into Andorra goalkeeper Owono before tragically dying of a cardiac arrest in hospital after the match, having suffered a blunt cardiac injury from the collision.
The 30-year-old had scored 11 goals in 34 games for the club, having joined them in 2025 from Castellon.
Owono, the Equatoguinean shot-stopper, was the subject of racist abuse on Tuesday after the game, and it caused the 25-year-old to delete his entire Instagram account on Tuesday.
He released an emotional statement on Wednesday, which was released by Andorra.
"These are the most difficult days of my life. I struggle to find the words, and it is very hard for me to process anything that has happened," the statement read.
"I feel an immense amount of pain over the loss of Jesus. My thoughts are with him, his family, and everyone who loved him.
"I know there will be many issues to address. I will face whatever comes with the utmost respect. Right now, honestly, I cannot think of anything other than Jesus and the pain we are all experiencing. Rest in peace, Jesus.”
Andorra have requested for “everyione to show the “utmost sensitivity and respect" for their goalkeeper.
It is reported in Spain that there will be no charges brought against Owono, while all of this week’s upcoming Copa del Rey and Copa de la Reina matches have been postponed to signify a mourning period.
