Harry Kane 'becomes highest-paid footballer in Europe' as England captain signs new Bayern Munich contract to stay in Germany for another three years

Ballon d'Or winner Harry Kane has extended his contract at Bayern Munich until 2029.

The new deal is expected to make the 33-year-old Europe's highest-paid player, reflecting his value after he was crowned the world's best player last week in London.

The England captain has scored 156 goals in 161 outings since joining Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 for £85million.

Kane was entering the final six months of his deal at Bayern but any hope of returning to the Premier League to break Alan Shearer’s goalscoring record has been dashed, as he commits another three years to the German champions.

Kane had not won silverware before joining Bayern but has made up for it in the last two years, claiming two Bundesliga titles, the DFB Cup and two German Super Cups.

Meanwhile, he led England to their best finish at the World Cup since 1966 this summer, as the Three Lions won bronze. Kane scored six goals in seven outings for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Signing his new deal, Kane said: 'I feel right at home at FC Bayern. I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich.

‘We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager. It makes me very proud to be part of this club.

‘My whole family is very happy here. I was keen to stay. I’m now looking forward to the future and I want to win many more titles with this great club.'

Later this month, Kane is poised to become England’s record appearance holder when the Three Lions face Croatia and Spain in the Nations League.

Kane would have to play just one of those games to surpass Peter Shilton, who earned 125 caps.

He is already England’s greatest goalscorer, netting 91 times for the Three Lions - 38 more than Wayne Rooney in second.

He has earned plenty of individual honours at Bayern as well. Alongside the Ballon d’Or, Kane has been the Bundesliga top goalscorer in both seasons at Bayern and has twice won the Golden Shoe, which recognises Europe’s best striker.
