Harry Kane has extended his contract with FC Bayern through 2029. At the press conference following the signing of his contract, the English striker provided insights into the decision-making process. The 32-year-old made it clear that the fundamental decision to stay had been made much earlier. The final discussions focused primarily on the details.

“We signed the contract yesterday, but the decision was made a long time ago,” Kane explained. Due to the World Cup, they hadn’t wanted to hold any concrete talks at first. After his return, the main focus was on clarifying the final details.

For the forward, there were several reasons to continue his time in Munich: “As I’ve said before, I know I’m on a great team, that we’re competing for the Champions League and for every title. It’s important for me to be in a place where I can improve. There’s no doubt about that. My family is happy that we can stay here—at the end of the day, everyone’s happy.”

Kane believes in the Bayern project

When asked what circumstances might have dissuaded him from signing an extension, Kane responded with a clear explanation. Precisely because he is convinced of the path the team is on, the decision was an easy one for him.

“If I didn’t believe in the team, if I didn’t believe we could win the biggest titles, I would have looked elsewhere,” the forward emphasized.

The sporting outlook is particularly important to him: “I feel better than ever. Over the next few years, we’ll definitely be playing at the very highest level. I’m very happy here, I know where the team is headed, and I believe in this project—I never had any doubts.”

Long-term prospects with FC Bayern

With his contract running through June 30, 2029, the English international’s future in Munich is secured for the long term. Since joining the club in the summer of 2023, Kane has scored 156 goals in 161 competitive matches and has become a key figure on the team. In addition to two German championships, he has won the DFB-Pokal and the Supercup twice with FC Bayern.

The contract extension is thus not only a commitment by the club to its star striker, but also a clear signal from Kane himself. The 32-year-old sees FC Bayern as providing the conditions to continue competing for the biggest titles—and he wants to continue on this path together with the club.
