Manchester City are reportedly keen to sign Lille’s 18-year-old midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi in a deal worth €100m (£85m). Bouaddi has drawn significant interest after impressing for Morocco at this summer’s World Cup, and while the fee would be huge for a teenager, City see him as a long-term investment.

As things stand, City are odds-on to secure the teenager's services with BetMGM offering 1/3 odds while bet365 have Enzo Maresca's side priced at 1/4. Hopes from Lille fans of holding on to him may hold some optimism in the 4/1 price for him to stay beyond the transfer window while Arsenal and Real Madrid are 10/1 and 12/1 respectively to make an 11th-hour bid for the promising player.

Oddschecker spokesman Chris Rogers stated, "Man City are closing in on the capture of Lille's in-demand youngster Ayyoub Bouaddi. City are as short as 1/4 (cut from 5/4 this week) to win the race for the Moroccan midfielder. Following a stellar World Cup campaign, 86% of bets this week backed the 18-year-old to further strengthen a new look Man City midfield."

Director of football Hugo Viana is said to rate Bouaddi’s technique and positional intelligence, with City unconcerned about his ability to handle the Premier League’s physical demands despite his age. Head coach Enzo Maresca is understood to want him integrated into the first-team squad next season.

Bouaddi started five of Morocco’s six matches at the tournament, including the 2-0 quarter-final defeat by France. The World Cup came early in his international career with only his eighth cap after a rapid rise at club level. He made his Lille debut in October 2023 in a Europa Conference League group game at just 16 years and three days, becoming the youngest player to feature in the competition.

A move for Bouaddi would take City’s summer spending to around £200m, following their £116m signing of Elliott Anderson from Nottingham Forest.
