Mbappé chases Ronaldo Nazário: goals needed to beat his Real Madrid tally

The French forward has reached 100 goals for Real Madrid and is now within striking distance of O Fenômeno’s tally of 104 during his time at the club.

Kylian Mbappé continues to climb Real Madrid’s all-time scoring charts and has a new target in his sights: overtaking Ronaldo Nazário. The French forward reached 100 goals for Madrid after scoring twice in the 2-1 victory over Barcelona on October 25 at Camp Nou. He reached the century mark in 116 competitive appearances, leaving him just four goals short of the 104 the Brazilian scored for the club between 2002 and 2007.

Ronaldo Nazário made 177 competitive appearances for Real Madrid and scored 104 goals, according to the club’s official records. Mbappé, meanwhile, reached his first 100 goals in fewer games and now needs four to draw level with O Fenômeno and five to overtake him in the all-time rankings. If he maintains his scoring rate, the Frenchman will also be within reach of other former Madrid forwards’ tallies, including Gareth Bale’s 106 goals and Gonzalo Higuaín’s and Juanito’s 121.

Mbappé’s immediate goal is to keep adding to his tally in a season in which he has already scored 14 goals, following 44 in his first campaign and 42 in his second. His goals have come across LaLiga, the Champions League and other domestic and international competitions. With Cristiano Ronaldo standing as Real Madrid’s all-time leading scorer on 450 goals, there is still a long way to go, but Mbappé already has a Brazilian legend in his sights and could surpass his total in the coming matches.
