After a slow start for AC Milan in their Europa League clash with Bournemouth, matters went from bad to worse before half-time.

Ruben Amorim's side were left stunned at the Vitality Stadium inside eight minutes as the hosts were awarded a penalty for a handball against Koni De Winter.

Justin Kluivert calmly converted from the spot, but it didn't take Marco Rose's side very long to build on their advantage.

Before half-time, Milan captain Mike Maignan was shown a straight red card for violent conduct after he appeared to shove his gloves in the face of Tyler Adams as a Bournemouth corner was being taken.

The decision came after VAR intervention and this time it was Marcus Tavernier who stepped up to score the resulting penalty, giving Bournemouth a two-goal lead at the break.

Omari Hutchinson made way so young goalkeeper Lorenzo Torriani could come on, but it's certainly a long way back for Milan now as the second half gets underway.
