Scott Parker set to become new West Ham manager after Nuno Espirito Santo sacking

The former West Ham midfielder has experience getting teams promoted from the Championship
Scott Parker is set to succeed Nuno Espirito Santo as West Ham head coach.
Nuno was relieved of his duties with immediate effect on Tuesday morning following back-to-back home defeats to Southampton and West Brom.
The Irons are four points off the automatic promotion places and have won six of their opening 13 Championship games this season.
West Ham invested heavily over the summer, breaking the Championship transfer record to sign midfielder Arne Engels from Celtic for £22million, and were among the favourites for promotion back to the Premier League.
Now, though, after a mixed start to the season, they have decided to part ways with Nuno and have landed on club legend Parker to take the reins as they look to get their promotion bid back on track.
Parker, who has been out of work since leaving Burnley by mutual consent last season following the club’s relegation from the Premier League, has experience getting teams promoted from the Championship.

The 46-year-old has previously managed Fulham, Bournemouth and Club Brugge and has won promotion from the Championship on three separate occasions.
Standard Sport understands Parker is the frontrunner for the West Ham job with a deal close to completion, and it is hoped he will be in the dugout for Wednesday’s trip to Cardiff.
Parker spent four years at West Ham between 2007 and 2011, captaining the side and being named Hammers' Player of the Year in each of his final three seasons.
Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville are currently set to take temporary charge of the squad ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Cardiff, but Noble could reunite with his former team-mate Parker in the dugout as West Ham look to move quickly to appoint Nuno’s successor.
