La Liga giants Atlético Madrid expect to welcome back a leading member of the club’s midfield ranks for their upcoming showdown with Hansi Flick’s Barcelona.
This comes amid the understanding that Johnny Cardoso is set to be at the disposal of Diego Simeone this weekend.
The headline fixture of the upcoming round of fixtures in Spain’s top-flight will be contested at the Metropolitano on Sunday evening.
The clash in question will see the aforementioned Atlético play host to table-topping Barcelona, in the knowledge that an eventual victory would see them leapfrog the Blaugrana to the top of the table.
In efforts towards as much, the Rojiblancos will be forced to make do without a key defensive figure, with Cristian Romero ruled out through injury.
As per a report from Diario Sport, though, the aforementioned Johnny Cardoso, after a recent spell on the treatment table, will be back fit and raring to go, having now returned to group training in Spain’s capital.
