erupted for a game-high 24 points to lead the Boston Celtics to
an 87-75 win
over the Charlotte Hornets at the
2026 NBA Summer League
on Sunday.
Boston
drafted Mitchell at pick No. 40
in the
2026 NBA Draft
. The rookie out of St. John’s went 10-for-20 from the field with six steals, two blocks, and eight rebounds, seven of which came on the offensive end.
The Hornets owned a 21-17 edge after one quarter, but the Celtics grabbed the reins and didn’t let go.
After trailing by as much as seven in the second quarter, Boston closed the first half strong, taking a 42-40 lead at the break. The Celtics outscored Charlotte 70-54 over the final three frames, and they reached a game-best 19-point advantage at one point of the fourth.
The Hornets made 22 turnovers on Saturday, then committed 25 total miscues today.

Boston finished 14-for-35 (40%) from the 3-point line, with four players draining three triples each.
John Tonje was one of them, scoring 17 points with five rebounds and one steal.

Liam McNeeley paced the Hornets with 20 points on 6-for-14 shooting and eight rebounds.
