Altay Bayindir joins Celta Vigo on loan

Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has completed a season-long loan move to La Liga side Celta Vigo, where he will look to secure the regular first-team football.

The 28-year-old joined United from Fenerbahçe in 2023 but managed just six appearances in all competitions last season, taking his overall tally for the club to 17 matches. Despite showing glimpses of his quality, Bayindir found himself firmly behind André Onana in the pecking order.

The loan move offers the Turkish international an opportunity to feature regularly for a Celta side that finished sixth in La Liga last season and will compete in the UEFA Europa League under manager Claudio Giráldez.

Reports suggest the agreement includes an option for Celta to make the transfer permanent next summer for around £3.5 million. Manchester United have also negotiated performance-related bonuses and a significant sell-on clause to protect their interests.

Bayindir is expected to join Celta's pre-season camp immediately and could make his first appearance in upcoming friendlies against Sassuolo and Napoli.
