Andy Carroll reveals ex-BBC star was celebrity friend who sexually assaulted him

Footballer Andy Carroll has confirmed the name of the man who was jailed after sexually assaulting him. Kevin Adams, a dance coach who starred on now-cancelled BBC show Fame Academy, was convicted at Chelmsford crown court in 2023.
Carroll, 37, bravely revealed that he was abused in his autobiography which was published last month. Adams assaulted the former England striker in 2021 while he was sleeping in his home.
After recently learning that Adams' name was in publicly available court documents, Carroll confirmed to the Sun it was him. "Now that Kevin Adams has been named in court documents as my abuser, I can confirm it," he said.
Adams appeared as a coach on Fame Academy which was broadcast on BBC One in 2002 and aired for two seasons. He also featured on Strictly Come Dancing's It Takes Two in 2021.

To get it, it's a quick and easy one-two:
1. Head THIS WAY
Prior to going behind bars for 20 months, Adams ran a children's dance school - the Kevin Adams Academy - in Harlow, Essex. It appears to have ceased operating in 2022.
The incident happened in 2021 after Carroll returned home following a game 'down south' for hometown club Newcastle United. He said in his book that ex-wife Billi Mucklow had convinced him to invite Adams round to watch a boxing match and let him stay in their spare room.
Carroll explained how he suddenly woke up to the man trying to attack him underneath his bedsheets. He responded by throwing him out of the house, smacking Adams 'as hard as he could' when he tried to re-enter before calling the police and sobbing in (his children's) nanny's arms.

The 37-year-old described the court process as 'humiliating and horrendous'. Adams, now 59, tried to play the victim and claimed that he was hit by Carroll for no reason.
Judge Mary Loram told him: "You spun a literally incredible tale in which you painted yourself as the victim. You've actually started to believe your own lies."
Carroll made a request when naming Adams in a comment to the Sun. "Now that Kevin Adams has been named in court documents as my abuser, I can confirm it," he began.

"Hopefully now I can finally start to put this chapter behind me. I just ask that people don't constantly share pictures of my abuser alongside me.
"I don't want to keep seeing his face or being reminded of him every time this story is spoken about. I'm ready to move forward. This had a devastating impact on my life and loved ones."
Carroll, who's now a player-coach for National League South club Dagenham & Redbridge, debated with current partner Lou Teasdale whether to include the attack in his autobiography, 'Owning It'. He added the story in at 'the last minute' and hopes that it will help other victims of sexual assault.
