England fans booed Thomas Tuchel's name when it was read out before kick-off.

The travelling England fans in the stadium in Miami made their point very loud and clear ahead of kick-off for the third-place play-off with France. It was a very loud backlash against Tuchel in the wake of England's semi final defeat to Argentina on Wednesday night.

The stadium announcer read out the names of both sets of players who all got cheered - and the mood changed when it came to Tuchel.

It was loud, very clear and will be a sharp wake-up call to the FA as well as Tuchel about public mood.

It really has turned on Tuchel after that bruising Argentina game because England lost to their great rivals but also blew a great chance to reach their first World Cup final in 60 years.

Tuchel was asked about whether he wanted to stay on even if the mood was changing - and he gave quite a terse answer in his pre-match press conference.

Tuchel questioned whether the mood was really "split" and insisted he wanted to carry on regardless.

But the harsh reality is that the fans have made up their minds as to who they think is responsible for the Argentina defeat and they have put it on the manager rather than the players.

It is a long way back for any manager to win back the players - and that is the toughest task facing Tuchel.

England could record their best ever World Cup performance on foreign soil if they beat France and finish third.
