Arsenal fans have last laugh with brutal chant after cheeky Rogers gesture

Arsenal fans told Morgan Rogers "you should have signed for a big club" as the Chelsea star left the pitch during Sunday's loss at the Emirates.

Rogers was playing against the team who had plans to sign him from Aston Villa in the summer, but the England playmaker ultimately ended up joining the Blues after they spent a record amount on him - a sum the Premier League champions weren't prepared to match.

The 23-year-old move to Stamford Bridge for £117million, making him the most expensive British player ever. Arsenal had a figure in mind when it came to their valuation and weren't prepared to get into a bidding war, leaving them to miss out.

Rogers only needed 77 seconds to score against Arsenal during Chelsea's 2-1 loss at the Emirates - but when he came off late in the second-half the home crowd were happy to mock the player's choice of club.

Rogers had taken issue with Declan Rice during the second-half. The Arsenal midfielder appeared to trip him off the ball and the Chelsea star quickly squared up to his compatriot, which ended with Rogers himself getting booked.

He scored on his debut against Fulham a fortnight ago and netted for the second time against the Gunners, but it couldn't keep up Chelsea's perfect start as they lost for the first time under Xabi Alonso. Arsenal meanwhile are one of only two teams to take nine points from nine.

Arsenal opted against signing Rogers and ultimately failed to land a marquee name in attack, which had been on their summer agenda. Adding more quality in the final third was seen as a must if they wanted to go to the next level, but Arteta and co missed out on a number of targets.

As well as Rogers, they were also heavily linked with Vinicius Jnr during a period where his Real Madrid future looked uncertain. The Brazilian would've been the biggest signing in the club's history, but he later signed a new deal to remain in the Spanish capital.

Julian Alvarez was another world class individual eyed by those in north London. He made it clear he wanted to leave Atletico Madrid, with Barcelona his preferred option, but they refused to sell to a La Liga rival. A move to Arsenal also failed to materialise.
