The nearing end of the international break will give Arsenal their first opportunity to respond to a crushing defeat at Brighton.

Leeds United visit the Emirates Stadium on October 10, with the Gunners looking to get their Premier League title defence back on track after losing 3-0 at the Amex. That loss interrupted an otherwise strong opening to the 2026/27 campaign.

Having ended their 22-year wait for the league title last season, Arsenal clinched the Community Shield with a victory over Manchester City and put together a run of seven consecutive wins across all competitions.

The halt to club football has left manager Mikel Arteta waiting to put that Brighton setback behind them. His preparations for Leeds also come with questions over player availability, following injuries sustained by members of his squad while away with their countries.

Antonio Nusa claim made

Arsenal are preparing a January bid for RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa, according to a report in Germany. The 21-year-old has caught the eye with his displays since joining the Bundesliga outfit from Club Brugge in August 2024 and has begun the new season in excellent form.

Nusa, who plays with Martin Odegaard for Norway, is reported by online German outlet Fussball News to be attracting attention from Arsenal and Tottenham, who are reportedly at the front of the queue for the winger. A number of other clubs, including Roma, Aston Villa, Newcastle, AC Milan and Inter Milan, are also said to be monitoring his situation.

However, the report claims Arsenal's pursuit of Nusa could become "particularly concrete" as they are understood to be preparing an opening bid of £34million. That falls considerably short of Leipzig's asking price for the player, which is thought to be around £50-55million.

Erling Haaland’s transfer priority

Erling Haaland would reportedly favour a move to Paris Saint-Germain ahead of Arsenal, should Manchester City face relegation from the Premier League. City have been found guilty of violating 114 of the league's financial regulations between 2009 and 2018, though the club have appealed the verdict and maintain their innocence.

Among the most serious sanctions they could potentially face is relegation from the top flight, in which case their star players, including Haaland, are expected to leave the Etihad. The Norwegian forward has been linked with Premier League rivals Arsenal since the news emerged, given the Gunners remain in pursuit of a world-class striker.

However, according to Le Parisien, reigning European champions PSG are frontrunners to secure the 26-year-old. It's claimed the back-to-back Champions League winners, who defeated Arsenal in this year's final, regard Haaland as the natural successor to Ousmane Dembele, who turns 30 next year and may be set for a move to Saudi Arabia.
