Arsenal are expecting huge offers for two first-team attackers

Arsenal fans can expect a frantic end to the summer transfer window as the deadline rapidly approaches.

The Gunners showed exactly why they are deemed title favourites again with a 3-0 Community Shield win over Manchester City on Sunday, with summer arrivals Christos Tzolis and Bruno Guimaraes both impressing on their first official starts.

Still, more signings are wanted before the window shuts on September 1. Manager Mikel Arteta remains intent on securing cover for injured defender William Saliba, alongside a top-level attacking addition, with Julian Alvarez understood to be his No.1 offensive target.

Yet, sporting director Andrea Berta is aware several players need to move on first to free up funds and space in the squad. With Leandro Trossard being the only notable Arsenal departure so far, expect things to pick up on that front in the coming days.

Arsenal brace for Nwaneri offers

Fabrizio Romano sent shockwaves through the Arsenal fanbase during their victory over City on Sunday by reporting that a decision has already been reached for Ethan Nwaneri to depart the Gunners within the next two weeks. He posted on X that the club internally agreed weeks ago to allow the 19-year-old — who spent the second half of last season out on loan — to leave.

Nwaneri did not even make the substitutes' bench for the Principality Stadium showpiece, and was spotted watching from the touchline alongside Gabriel Martinelli — another player whose future at the club is uncertain.

Romano has since reinforced his claims by stating multiple clubs have already contacted Arsenal regarding a potential deal for Nwaneri, including AC Milan, Galatasaray and unnamed German clubs. He added on his YouTube channel that there is a sense at Arsenal that Premier League clubs are now set to enter the battle to secure his services.

Nwaneri is said to be consulting with his representatives and family before reaching a conclusion about his next step following an underwhelming loan spell with Marseille last term.

Julian Alvarez pathway 'opens up'

Spanish publication Sport has reported that Barcelona are set to submit an offer for Arsenal's Viktor Gyokeres 'imminently'. The La Liga champions are on the hunt for a striker to fill the void left by Ferran Torres, after the World Cup winner sealed a £43m switch to Paris Saint-Germain.

Barcelona's primary target remains Julian Alvarez — a player also on Arsenal's radar — however, Atletico Madrid are adamant they will not sell the Argentine to a direct rival. Therefore, Barca have reportedly shifted their focus towards Gyokeres, which could then hand the Gunners a clear run at securing Alvarez, who is desperate to leave Atletico.

The report claims that Barcelona intend to test Arsenal's resolve at the Emirates Stadium and "make movements in the next few hours". The Swedish international joined the Gunners last summer in a deal worth up to £64m and was expected to bring an end to Arteta's long search for a No.9.

Yet, despite netting 21 goals across all competitions in his debut campaign in north London, Gyokeres' all-round contribution left much to be desired, with the striker frequently disappearing for several games at a time. That has fuelled speculation over a potential departure this summer, with earlier reports suggesting Arsenal were prepared to include Gyokeres in a player-plus-cash deal for Alvarez.
