Arsenal star 'hits back at Virgil van Dijk' after Liverpool win: 'I don't forget'
Gunners favourite delights fans with social media post after Anfield triumph
The Gunners are celebrating their first Premier League victory at Anfield since September 2012 thanks to Kai Havertz’s first-half goal that secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory on Merseyside on Sunday.
It was a landmark triumph for Arsenal that saw them leapfrog leaders Manchester City back to the top-flight summit, where they now boast a three-point advantage after nine games after City fell to a second successive loss at the hands of high-flying Brighton on Saturday.
It also pumped the brakes on early talk of a potential Liverpool title challenge this term, with the Reds - who had previously won five consecutive matches across all competitions under Andoni Iraola - dominating much of the match but failing to test goalkeeper David Raya at all as they stay down in fifth place and now nine points off first.
The versatile Hincapie was summoned from the bench late on by manager Mikel Arteta to replace Christos Tzolis and help see out a gritty Arsenal win, playing a brief part in what was an incredible defensive effort throughout.
Afterwards he took to Instagram to post a series of pictures from the match which finished on a zoomed-in image of the golden Premier League badge worn on the shirt sleeves of the defending champions, along with the three-word caption: “I don’t forget.”
Gleeful Arsenal supporters on social media took that to be a clear response to Van Dijk having also posted such a picture on Instagram after the goalless draw between Arsenal and Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium back in January.
“You didn’t forget about Van Dijk doing the same fourth slide pic last time,” one fan wrote.
“That last slide Piero, I love it,” wrote another.
Another Arsenal supporter said: “I see what you did here. That last slide.”
A further comment read: “[I] am sure the message is directly to Virgil. What goes around comes around.”
