Arsenal to make huge Julian Alvarez transfer decision on Deadline Day

The clock is ticking on a dream end to the transfer window

It has been a solid transfer window for the Premier League champions, strengthening in midfield by bringing in Bruno Guimaraes and addressing concerns over their defensive depth by signing Ezri Konsa.

Christos Tzolis already appears to be a superb signing on the left wing, though it remains to be seen if Arsenal will reinforce their attack further.

Standard Sport takes a look at what could be in store for the Gunners in the final hours of this summer's transfer window...

If there is to be a signing made on Deadline Day, it will come in attack and Arsenal remain firmly in the market.

The Gunners are still interested in Julian Alvarez but they are running out of time to persuade him to make the move to London, with his heart still set on Barcelona.

The club would be alert to the situation if that dramatically changed, but as it stands there is little encouragement for a serious approach.

Arsenal did have Iliman Ndiaye on their shortlist but he is set to join Man City, while Kenan Yildiz's foot injury ended any chance of Arsenal making a late move for him.

Malick Fofana has emerged as an option after Arsenal were offered the Lyon forward.

It is not yet clear whether the Gunners will make a formal approach for the 21-year-old, but Fofana is keen on the move and Arsenal are exploring the possibility of a deal.

With limited time and few other obvious options to strengthen significantly in attack, Arsenal could instead decide to do no further business and revisit the market in January.

Arsenal are set to sign teenager Andria Bartishvili, though there is no immediate rush with that deal as he will not join until he turns 18 next year.

Gabriel Martinelli will complete a £60million move to Al-Hilal, having flown out to Saudi Arabia to undergo a medical.

It is also expected that Fabio Vieira will rejoin Hamburg on a permanent deal, having spent last season at the German club.

Gabriel Jesus was in Spain on Monday afternoon for his medical at Barcelona and that move will also be wrapped up before the window shuts.

Arsenal have been open to letting Ethan Nwaneri leave on loan this summer and Borussia Dortmund have made another move to try and sign the teenager.

The Gunners must decide whether to sanction that departure considering the other options they have let go in forward areas.

The club are still working on a loan move for Tommy Setford, who is effectively fourth-choice goalkeeper after the arrival of Illan Meslier earlier this summer.

There could also be moves for some of Arsenal's academy stars, though the likes of Evan Mooney and new signings James Scanlon and Ogunneye are set to stay with the Gunners.
