Arsenal transfer masterclass has given Mikel Arteta perfect Victor Osimhen boost

A shrewd £34million signing could hand Mikel Arteta a massive boost in signing a prolific No. 9 in the next transfer window

Christos Tzolis' excellent performances for Arsenal could steer Mikel Arteta towards signing Victor Osimhen in the future.

In five games for the Gunners so far, the left-winger has provided four assists - including one against Napoli in the Champions League. The Greece international continues to look like an absolute bargain for the north London side after signing for just £34million in the summer.

Sporting director Andrea Berta previously claimed that Tzolis would bring a "strong mentality" and "raise the technical level" of the team - and his words look to be coming true so far. Arteta is also equally impressed by the winger, stating that the "very, very smart" Tzolis can "make good decisions when a lot of people tend to rush."

With the 24-year-old continuing to shine for Arsenal, this could ultimately help the club switch their transfer focus to another position in January or beyond. The Gunners did pursue a move for Vinicius Jr in the summer, but the left-winger ultimately extended his deal with Real Madrid.

A budget of £140m was set aside for Vini Jr's transfer but this could instead be used on acquiring Victor Osimhen instead. The Telegraph reports that Arsenal raised the striker's availability as they discussed other deals with Galatasaray.

The Turkish club were looking at Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri, with the Gunners potentially planning a move for their key forward. While these moves didn't materialise at the time - with Osimhen staying, Martinelli moving to Al-Hilal and Nwaneri joining Borussia Dortmund on loan - Arsenal may consider another pursuit in the next transfer window.

This huge budget could be allocated towards Osimhen as Tzolis continues to do an impressive job for the Gunners.

Arsenal already have Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres as strikers this season. The German has provided the goods in front of goal, scoring three in five appearances.

However, Gyokeres has been less impressive, having managed just 100 minutes and zero goals so far. A striker who is a deadly threat is exactly what Arteta is looking for, and Osimhen certainly makes an argument to become the next No. 9 at the Emirates Stadium.

In 78 appearances for Galatasaray, the Nigeria international has scored 65 goals and assisted 18 times. He has proven just how composed he can be in front of goal both domestically and in Europe, which is a major attribute for Arsenal.

While it would be a major outlay financially, signing Osimhen in the January transfer window would be a huge statement for the Gunners to make - especially if they are still locked in a title race with Manchester City.

The idea of Tzolis providing inch-perfect crosses and slick passes to Osimhen to fire the Gunners to more silverware is a very exciting prospect.
