Arteta agrees to a new long-term contract to stay at Arsenal

Arsenal have completed perhaps their most important piece of business this season, as the BBC reports that Mikel Arteta has agreed to sign a new long-term contract at the club. The manager has been rewarded for the progress he has overseen since taking charge and will now continue his work with the Gunners.
Arteta has been in charge since the end of 2019, when he arrived as a replacement for Unai Emery. Since then, he has been given the time and tools needed to transform the club and build a team capable of competing at the highest level.
The Gunners were a shadow of themselves under Emery, and the club was unwilling to rebuild with the current Aston Villa manager. Instead, they took a chance on Arteta, who was a rookie at the time and had never coached any team before.
His only experience had been working as an assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, but Arsenal were confident that he would do well. That faith has been rewarded as the team has continued to improve during his time on the bench.
Arteta Set to Continue at Arsenal
The team has improved significantly since Arteta took charge and won the Premier League title last season, meaning they have entered a new dimension under his leadership. His continued presence is therefore viewed as important for the club.
The manager has now agreed to stay, and the report says the new contract will see him remain on the bench for up to ten years from the time he became the club’s manager. That would represent a lengthy period of stability for the Gunners.

Arsenal Continue to Trust Arteta
Arsenal have shown tremendous faith in Arteta since giving him the opportunity to lead the club. Despite his lack of previous experience as a head coach, they believed he had the qualities needed to oversee their rebuild.
That belief has remained strong as the team has developed under his management. The Premier League title last season and reaching the Champions League final further demonstrated the progress made during his time at the club and gave Arsenal another reason to keep their manager.
The Gunners have so much faith in Arteta that there was little doubt they would extend his contract beyond this term. His new agreement ensures that the manager can continue leading the club as they look to build on their recent progress and maintain their position at the top.
