Barcelona director Deco confirms transfer business done for the summer: ‘No more arrivals’

As reported previously, FC Barcelona consider their incoming transfer business complete for the summer of 2026, at least as far as incomings are concerned.

Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, confirmed the same today, following the announcement of Gabriel Jesus’ transfer.

“No more arrivals”

When asked by the media if there will be any more deadline day arrivals at Barcelona today, Deco firmly shut the doors.

“There will be no more arrivals,” he said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

Deco made the comments as he left Restaurante Marisquería Botafumeiro, which has hosted several of Barcelona’s welcome meals this summer.

The restaurant first became a regular stop for the club’s new signings after Barcelona officially announced the arrival of English winger Anthony Gordon from Newcastle at the end of May.

Jesus the last signing, no new centre-back

Therefore, the signing of Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus, officially announced on Tuesday, will be the final addition made by the Catalan club with the transfer window now approaching its close.

Gabriel Jesus joins Barcelona from Arsenal for €10 million plus variables. The 29-year-old striker signed a three-year contract with the La Liga champions.

Prior to him, the sporting department, led by Deco, closed the signings of Anthony Gordon, for €70 million plus add-ons, followed by the capture of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth €22 million plus variables.

Jesse Bisiwu was also signed from Club Brugge for a fee of €8.5 million before the Catalans made the biggest acquisition of the summer in the form of Rodri, who arrived from Manchester City for €76.5 million.

Now, With Jesus through the door, Barcelona’s incoming business is officially finished.

What this also means is that the Catalan heavyweights will not be signing a new centre-back on deadline day.

There was much talk about a late move for FC Twente’s 18-year-old centre-back Ruud Nijstad, who is rated very highly within the club.

However, there has been no breakthrough made in negotiations with the Dutch club, and as such, the left-footed central defender will not be joining the Blaugrana.
