Barcelona hit back at Atlético Madrid over Julián Alvarez statements

Barcelona Vice President Rafa Yuste has late this week hit back at Atlético Madrid CEO Gil Marin. This comes after the latter accused those in a position of power at the Camp Nou of underhanded tactics amid their ongoing transfer pursuit of Julián Alvarez.

Frontman Alvarez has of course seen his name continue to dominate the Spanish media headlines over the course of the week to date.

After the Argentine was afforded a ruthless reception by the Atlético faithful during his first appearance of the new campaign last weekend, Barcelona made use of the opportunity to publicly reiterate their desire to bring Alvarez to Catalunya’s capital before the summer is out.

This did not go down at all well behind the scenes in Madrid, with Rojiblancos CEO Gil Marin having in turn revealed a collective stance of ‘disgust with the lies, lack of transparency and professionalism of Barça’.

And as alluded to above, on Friday, the saga has continued to rumble on…

Drawn on Marin’s comments during his own appearance in front of the media, Barcelona Vice President Rafa Yuste firmly hit back:

“Barcelona have been a model of professionalism in the footballing world for many years. Atletico CEO Gil Marín’s statements about us and Julián crossed a red line and they made me angry.”
