Brenden Aaronson: It is going to be a very physical game

In tonight’s exclusive feature in the matchday programme, we caught up with American international Brenden Aaronson to preview the meeting with Newcastle United at Elland Road.
Having spent time working with new Magpies boss Matthias Jaissle at a previous club, the creative forward is well aware of the threats the visitors will bring.
“I have played under their coach before at Salzburg so I know the way that they are going to play, with a lot of intensity and a lot of high pressing because they want to play forward. It is going to be a very physical game.
“I think he is very similar to Daniel in the sense of wanting to be on the front foot, wanting the whole team to be working extremely hard against the ball and with the ball. I had a great season in Salzburg under him and I enjoyed it. There are definitely a lot of similarities between them.
“I think it has been a fantastic start to the season,” the 25-year-old then added, reflecting on the opening three Premier League fixtures.
“The mentality of the group has been really, really good, going away to really tough away games at Nottingham Forest and Brighton and getting two good results. At home against Brentford, we had another good result too.
“I think that we have had a great start to the season and we need to keep going like this, of course, because we want to finish as high as we can.
“I think that this group can accomplish anything. I think that just shows the mentality of the group and how we are playing at the moment!”
