Brighton v Arsenal Preview: Gunners face major Amex test against free-scoring Seagulls

Arsenal head to the Amex Stadium on Saturday looking to continue a perfect start to the season, but this could be one of their toughest Premier League tests so far.
Mikel Arteta’s side have won all seven matches in all competitions in 2026/27 and are now chasing a 10th consecutive Premier League victory, something Arsenal have not managed for 24 years.
However, Brighton’s form and attacking output suggest there may be a few nervous Gooners heading into this one.
Brighton are scoring for fun
Fabian Hurzeler’s side are currently fifth in the table and are the Premier League’s top scorers.
Brighton have already scored 13 league goals, with nine of those coming in emphatic victories over Aston Villa and Coventry City.
They also found the net three times in a 4-3 defeat at Chelsea and come into Saturday’s game on the back of another dramatic performance, recovering from 2-0 down to beat Manchester United in the Carabao Cup.
Their seven matches in all competitions have produced 28 goals, so Arsenal can expect a very different kind of challenge on the south coast.

Arsenal’s record offers encouragement
The Gunners have not lost at the Amex since 2020 and are unbeaten in their last six Premier League meetings with Brighton, winning four and drawing two.
Brighton, though, have only lost one of their last six league games at home, winning four and scoring at least twice in each of those victories.
That combination makes this a fascinating contest between an Arsenal side full of confidence and a Brighton team that clearly believes it can hurt anyone.
Arteta acknowledged the scale of the challenge, describing Brighton as a “really tough opponent” and praising the work done by Hurzeler and the club.
The Arsenal boss also stressed that his side want to play with the same dominance away from home as they do at the Emirates.
That mentality will be tested here.
This feels like the kind of fixture that could tell us plenty about Arsenal’s early title credentials. Brighton are fearless, dangerous and in form, while the Gunners arrive knowing another win would maintain their flawless start.
