Manchester United rode the brilliance of their mercurial skipper Bruno Fernandes to secure third place in the Premier League last season. The Portuguese finished the campaign with 21 assists, the most in a single season since the inception of the league.

Unfortunately, Fernandes has entered the final year of his contract and is yet to sign a new deal. The Red Devils have an option to extend his stay by an additional 12 months, but that has done little to calm supporters’ nerves.

The 32-year-old has endured a slow start to the new campaign, with United currently sitting 12th in the Premier League table after five games. Fernandes, though, continues to be pivotal to the team and has registered four goals and one assist in seven games in all competitions.

In his column for The Daily Briefing, journalist Mark Brus suggested that United are willing to let Fernandes leave for €50-60 million. The report states: “While the official position is that Fernandes is not for sale, there would obviously be a price that could convince the club.”

“I’m told that price would have to be in the region of €50-60m. Whether anyone’s willing to pay that for a 32-year-old is another thing.”

“Still, the interest is definitely there, and with a new contract far from certain, I’d expect clubs to start sounding this out more closely in the coming weeks and months.”

Fernandes has registered 111 goals and 109 assists in 334 games for United so far and has won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award a record five times. Recent reports suggest he is already in talks with the Red Devils over a new deal.

Three clubs eyeing Fernandes

The report also states that Fernandes will not be short of options if he wishes to pursue a new adventure in 2027. Galatasaray were previously linked with the Portuguese and reportedly retain interest in his signature.

Meanwhile, Juventus are also eyeing the player with interest, while AC Milan are in the race as well. The report states: “Atletico Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan, and Galatasaray are among the clubs keeping an eye on Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes.”

However, the report insists that United are desperate to keep hold of their talisman, while Fernandes is also eager to stay. The report confirms that Michael Carrick wants the player to continue his association with the Red Devils as well.

Final Thoughts

Despite his age and a slow start to the campaign, Fernandes remains indispensable for United at the moment. As such, one expects that the mercurial Portuguese will sign a new deal at Old Trafford soon.
