Carrick future LIVE: Man Utd sack plan as left-field option joins four-man shortlist

Manchester United boss Michael Carrick's future is still up in the air after an enthralling 4-4 draw with Aston Villa meant they'd stay in the Premier League relegation zone over the international break.
The Red Devils started awfully and found themselves 2-0 down within four minutes thanks to goals from Alysson and Nicolas Jackson at Old Trafford. United did pull themselves back before half-time, with Bruno Fernandes scoring from the spot and Youri Tielemans making it 2-2.
But history repeated itself at the start of the second half. A John McGinn penalty and a Leon Goretzka goal restored Villa's two-goal lead before Joshua Zirkzee and Patrick Dorgu scored in stoppage time to secure an unlikely point.
Whilst there was some relief around Old Trafford, the result still leaves United in the bottom three and Carrick fighting for his job. The United board reportedly have not agreed on an alternative plan yet, though Eddie Howe, Julian Nagelsmann, Antonio Conte, and Stuttgart boss Sebastian Hoeness have all been mentioned as possible targets.
Manchester United don't have a firm plan over the future of Carrick, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein.
There seems to be four names who have most recently been linked with the Manchester United job, they are:
Eddie Howe
Julian Nagelsmann
Antonio Conte
Sebastian Hoeness
