Chelsea, Arsenal and Man United all tracking Freiburg forward Matanovic

Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United are among the clubs tracking SC Freiburg forward Igor Matanovic after an eye-catching start to the Bundesliga campaign.
Matanovic has scored six times in seven appearances across all competitions for Freiburg to earn admiration from the Premier League. It follows a 15-goal campaign for the 23-year-old in 2025/26, where he helped Freiburg to the Europa League final.
Caught Offside claim some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs are taking an interest in Matanovic. Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all interested in signing number nines, to add competition and cover to their ranks.
Arsenal are weighing up potential options amid doubts over Viktor Gyokeres’ future. The Swedish striker has failed to start a Premier League game this season and has been linked with an exit.
Manchester United are also assessing centre-forwards amid a lack of options. Benjamin Sesko is currently the club’s only recognised centre-forward, and has been dealing with fitness issues, with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo having deputised in his absence.
This season, Matanovic leads all Bundesliga forwards for duels won, possessions won, interceptions, and shots on target. He came on as a half-time substitute during Croatia’s 7-0 defeat to England on Saturday night.
