Chelsea player ratings vs Hull City as Morgan Rogers and Joao Pedro shine but 3/10 poor

The full Chelsea player ratings from the Blues' 2-2 draw with Hull City at Stamford Bridge with Joao Pedro coming to the rescue yet again for Xabi Alonso

Chelsea's attacking trio once again bailed the defence out as they fought back to draw with Hull City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

While the Blues' defence looked poor once again, Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers and Joao Pedro continued their electric start to the season. Joao Pedro levelled the match to earn the hosts a point in west London after some great work from Palmer. Rogers had given Chelsea the lead early on.

It was, for the fourth successive league match, an early goal for the Blues. Hull had a corner but the Tigers were counter attacked on and Rogers fired past Konstantinos Tzolakis at the goalkeeper's near post.

However, Hull fought back later in the first-half to put themselves 2-1 up at the break. Mohamed Belloumi fired into the bottom corner after a mistake from Jorrel Hato and the Tigers attacker then scored his second after some calamitous defending from the Blues from a corner.

Chelsea's second-half pressure paid off on 66 minutes when Joao Pedro fired into the roof of the net after some fine work from Palmer down the left-hand side.

Despite Chelsea's best efforts, they couldn't break down Hull for a third time at the Bridge. Below, Bobby Vincent rates the Chelsea players based on their performance.

Emiliano Martinez - Returned in goal after a midweek rest. Shaky moment from Hull's first corner where he fell over after catching the ball, but ironically that led to Chelsea opening the scoring. Also not great from Martinez for Belloumi's second goal. He went up for the ball but Semi Ajayi climbed higher than him to hit the crossbar before Belloumi eventually scored. Shaky. 4

Malo Gusto - Really bad for Belloumi's first goal. The Frenchman, who played at right-back today, needed to be stronger and, failing that, stop that cross from Ryan Giles. Instead, the ball found its way to Belloumi. 4

Wesley Fofana - Fofana was very positive in possession and often looked to move forward when he had the ball at his feet. One of Chelsea's better defenders (that wasn't particularly hard). 6

Levi Colwill - One of his first actions of the match was a big one. His clearance was the one that got Chelsea away on the counter-attack for Rogers' goal. Defensively, though, he doesn't seem to be at his brilliant best right now. 5

Jorrel Hato - The Dutchman was really, really poor for Belloumi's first goal. He let it bounce in the box and then misjudged the flight of the ball and it ended up with Belloumi producing a wonderful strike into the bottom corner. Hooked at half-time. 3

Reece James - Looked a bit sloppy in possession at times. James wasn't able to contribute too much defensively, either, especially in the first-half where Chelsea looked ridiculously open. Much improved in the second period. 6

Romeo Lavia - Not his best but he certainly wasn't helped by the system. Hull overloaded the Blues at times and Lavia was helpless. 5

Pedro Neto - Should have done better with an early chance to make it 2-0. Struggled to get too involved but he put in a few dangerous crosses. 6

Cole Palmer - Started brightly. Almost played through Rogers in the first-half but his execution was a tiny bit off. He did get his assist in the second period where he made something from nothing on the left side to set up Joao Pedro. 7

Morgan Rogers - Fantastic early goal. Rogers could really prove to be the signing of the summer. Even at £117million. Faded a bit as the game went on. 7

Joao Pedro - The Brazilian played a big part in Rogers' goal, laying the ball off to his colleague before it was fired into the bottom corner. And of course he found another goal. A fine finish from the recently-crowned Premier League Player of the Month to level the match. 8

Pep Chavarria (on for Hato 46') - Just a bundle of speed and energy. Offered Chelsea more in an attacking sense when brought on for the second-half. 6

Valentin Barco (on for Lavia 70') - Good to see him get some Premier League minutes. Looked neat and tidy without impacting the match too much late on. Got stuck in. 6

Danny Welbeck (on for Gusto 77') - Welbeck wasn't able to have the desired impact. Perhaps he was introduced a tad too late. N/A

Estevao Willian (on for Neto 86') - Too little, too late. N/A

Maxence Lacroix (on for Fofana 86') - A strange sub when Chelsea were chasing a winner. N/A
