WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blues this afternoon.
It is understood that Chelsea have paid a sizeable six-figure transfer fee to secure the player’s services from Manchester United.
The 26-year-old has spent the last three seasons playing in the Barclays Women’s Super League with Manchester United. Malard initially joined the club on loan from OL Lyonnes before the arrangement was later made permanent. She went on to make 95 appearances for The Red Devils in all competitions in which she scored 23 goals.
On the international stage, Malard has been capped by France on 41 occasions in which she has scored 14 goals.
After joining Chelsea, Malard said “I’m so happy because I have a plan for my life and my career, and Chelsea were a part of that plan. It is a great club and a big club so I am very excited to get started. I have played against Chelsea a lot of times and have always lost so I know the team have good players. I have known Sonia [Bompastor] since I was 14 years old, so it is great to work with her again.
“My objective is to become better every single day and to win trophies. I know Chelsea always have that as an objective and I have that ambition too.
“I am also really looking forward to playing at Stamford Bridge on a regular basis. The atmosphere is incredible and the pitch is close to the fans, so you really feel their energy. I love that.”
Malard is Chelsea’s third signing of the summer transfer window.
