Company linked to Chelsea owner Todd Boehly donates £75,000 to Nigel Farage's Reform party

Reform UK received a £75,000 donation from a company linked to Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly, it has been revealed.

American businessman Boehly, 52, led the consortium that took over the Blues in 2022 and he currently serves as the club's chairman.

Boehly has been hands-on in his role at Stamford Bridge and also has a number of business interests, including Eldridge Industries, a holding company based in Miami where he is CEO, co-founder, chairman and controlling member.

And, in the latest data published by the Electoral Commission - the independent body which oversees elections and regulates political finance in the UK - Eldridge Capital Management Services (UK) made a £75,000 donation to Nigel Farage's party.

Eldridge Capital Management is the primary division of Eldridge, an asset management and insurance company owned by Eldridge Industries.

According to the Financial Times, Boehly is the ultimate owner of Eldridge Capital Management Services, while he is also listed as a former director.

Among the current directors at the company are Tony Minella, Boehly's co-founder of Eldridge.

Boehly, who has an estimated net wealth of $9.3billion (£6.9bn), has historically provided donations in politics.

Like with Reform, these have tended to support right-wing politicians and parties.

This has included Donald Trump and Republican candidates who are aligned with the US President.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission also confirmed that in the three-month period up until June, Reform received the most political donations.

Farage's party were given £5.3million by donors.

For context, Labour received £3.6m, while the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats were handed £2.8m and £1.4m respectively.
