Crystal Palace aiming to hijack Sunderland’s move for Malick Fofana

Crystal Palace are aiming to hijack Sunderland’s move for Olympique Lyonnais winger Malick Fofana (21), according to L’Équipe. Sunderland had already reached an agreement with Lyon for the Belgium international, but Palace are now attempting to intervene and win the race for the highly-rated attacker.

Fofana has attracted considerable Premier League interest following his performances for Lyon. The 21-year-old joined the French club from Gent in January 2024 and has since developed into an important part of their attacking options.Sunderland have been working to complete the deal and remain keen on securing Fofana, but Palace’s late interest could now complicate the transfer.

The Eagles are looking to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes and have identified Fofana as a potential addition to their attacking ranks. With Sunderland already holding an agreement with Lyon, Palace face a race against time to derail the deal and convince Fofana to choose Selhurst Park instead. The coming hours could prove decisive.
