Crystal Palace complete loan signing of Chelsea defender but interest in star men persists

Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Axel Disasi on loan from Chelsea for the season.

Disasi has since made 58 Premier League appearances across spells with Chelsea, Aston Villa and West Ham United, while also winning the UEFA Conference League with the Blues.

He has made more than 300 senior club appearances, including 22 in the Champions League and Europa League.

Palace chairman Steve Parish said: “We are pleased to welcome a defender of Axel’s experience and calibre to Palace for the season.

“I look forward to seeing him in action at Selhurst Park.”

Disasi said: “I’m very happy. The club has been going in a very good direction, so I think it was the right place for me to keep going.

“I know that it’s very tough to play against Palace at Selhurst Park – so I’m looking forward to being on the other side now!”

Star forwards Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta continue to attract interest, however.

Sarr is a target for Turkish side Galatasaray with Liverpool also exploring a move for the winger, while Palace have turned down a bid for Mateta from Aston Villa.
