Daniel Farke confirms Leeds United without two for Nottingham Forest opener

Leeds United begin their Premier League season at Nottingham Forest on Saturday with a near clean bill of health, as only Willy Gnonto and Gabriel Gudmundsson are ruled out.

All summer signings are available, with Nico Elvedi training with the group for the first time on Thursday and in contention to debut. Leeds Live reports that goalkeeper James Trafford and wide man Harry Wilson are viewed as near certainties to start, with Elvedi and Tarik Muharemovic pushing for places.

Daniel Farke said Gnonto will miss the City Ground trip due to a hamstring issue and added the club hope to have him back in team training soon. He confirmed Gudmundsson will also sit out the opener.

On Elvedi, Farke noted it was the defender’s first session with Leeds, highlighted his 11 years at one club and that he is regarded as a club legend at Borussia Mönchengladbach. He said the Switzerland international arrives with fresh energy and is ready for the challenge.

Farke stated that, as things stand, the rest of the squad is available for selection, giving him scope to pick a refreshed side at the City Ground.
