Dead body found at Charlton Athletic's stadium as police launch investigation

A dead body has been found at Charlton Athletic's stadium, The Valley. A statement from the Addicks on Tuesday night confirmed a deceased individual had been discovered earlier that day.
Charlton say they are assisting police with their enquiries after the incident which is said to have occurred in the early hours of Monday morning. A male was pronounced dead at the scene.
The club stress there is no suggestion of any wrongdoing on their part.
The statement read: "Charlton Athletic are supporting the police with their enquiries following the discovery of a deceased individual at The Valley on Tuesday morning.

"Police were called to the stadium today after an incident that occurred in the early hours of Monday morning. A male was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"The death remains under investigation. Anyone with information, or who may have witnessed the incident, is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 2809/18AUG.
"Everyone at Charlton Athletic would like to express their deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the individual's family, friends and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.

Charlton played at home on Saturday, winning their season opener against Derby in the Championship. Goals from Lloyd Jones and Tyreece Campbell secured a come-from-behind 2-1 victory.
The Addicks face a London derby with West Ham next, travelling to the London Stadium on Saturday.
