Arsenal could be without a number of key players when they return to Premier League action against Leeds United this weekend, as the international break takes its toll.

Fans of the Gunners will have been nervous when their talents left north London to go and represent their respective countries in the Nations League at the end of last month, considering the physical demands of four games on the world stage amid an already jam-packed schedule on English soil and in Europe.

Mikel Arteta will look to defend the league title that Arsenal clinched back in May as 2026/27 unfolds, while also challenging for the missing piece of the Emirates trophy cabinet in the Champions League.

However, to do so, it is evident that his best players will need to stay fit and healthy over the course of the next seven months or so.

And the international has already proven problematic with regard to player injuries, with a number of first-team talents returning prematurely - only adding to an already concerning amount of players sidelined for Arsenal.

Declan Rice

Unlike a number of others on this list, Declan Rice didn't quite make it to the Nations League with England, thought to be a result of prioritising his load in an already jam-packed season.

The central-midfielder has also been dealing with neural hamstring pain, although there are no major concerns regarding his fitness for this weekend's match.

Potential return date: Saturday, October 10 vs Leeds United (H)

Ben White

Ben White also ruled himself out of the picture to represent England during the Nations League as a result of a groin injury sustained against Sunderland in mid September.

The full-back has been spotted back in training recently, and is expected to be fit for this weekend's game.

Piero Hincapie

Piero Hincapie has also continued training with Arsenal after he was not selected to represent Ecuador in friendlies against South Korea, Japan and Panama through a muscular injury.

He should also be fit to play against Leeds, with his issues now seemingly behind him.

Cristhian Mosquera

Cristhian Mosquera has not featured for Arsenal since picking up a hamstring injury against Aston Villa at the end of August. However, he has since returned to training and should be available to feature against Leeds.

Max Dowman

Teenager Max Dowman was forced to withdraw from England's Under-19s squad on Sunday as a result of an impact injury. Given the nature of the issue, the 16-year-old is not expected to be sidelined for a significant period, and could feature against Leeds.

Christos Tzolis

Christos Tzolis was subbed off during Greece's Nations League match with the Netherlands last week as a result of a hamstring injury, subsequently undergoing a scan before returning to north London.

Early reports suggest that the summer signing could be out of action for around three weeks - something which will come as a bitter blow to Arsenal considering Premier League and Champions League games on the horizon.

While he will miss Saturday's game with Leeds United, he could be back in time for the Gunners' home clash with Everton toward the end of the month.

Potential return date: Saturday, October 24 vs Everton (H)

Kai Havertz

Kai Havertz was also injured during Germany's Nations League opener with the Netherlands, when Quinten Timber collided with his knee.

While the false-nine has since undergone a scan, an exact timeframe for his return has not yet been shared. It is expected, however, that it will be a case of weeks and not months for Havertz.

Potential return date: Late October/November

William Saliba

William Saliba is yet to feature under Arteta this season as a result of a back injury which flared up while playing for France during this summer's World Cup. While surgery was not needed for the issue, he is still a way away from recovery.

It is suggested that he could feature from November onward, should his recovery continue to be plain sailing.

Potential return date: November/December

Ezri Konsa

Ezri Konsa is on his way back to north London as a result of leaving the England camp on Monday owing to a knock. While Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that there is no cause for major concern regarding Konsa's situation, the severity of his issue remains unknown.
