Dusan Vlahovic: Besiktas chief gives update on chase for Man United target

1

Besiktas president Serdar Adali has shared an update on their pursuit of reported Manchester United target Dusan Vlahovic.

On the list

United are believed to be keeping an eye out for striker opportunities as uncertainty continues to surround the future of Joshua Zirkzee.

Juventus are in contact with Zirkzee’s agent in an attempt to get a deal over the line. If Zirkzee leaves, United will almost certainly need to dip into the market for a replacement. This is where Vlahovic comes in.

Vlahovic is presently a free agent, his Juventus contract having now expired. With the club having finalised an agreement for Randal Kolo Muani, the prospect of his continued tenure in Turin appears remote. It’s been claimed that Barcelona are also admirers of the Serbia international, although Besiktas appear to be making the strongest push to land him.

Besiktas have extended a two-year contract proposal to the forward, though he has yet to respond as he awaits developments regarding Barcelona’s interest. Vlahovic has not, however, closed the door on a move to Turkey.

Speaking to reporters, Besiktas Adali confirmed that they are indeed making moves to lure Vlahovic to their ranks.

Vlahovic update

Adali simply said about the United target, “We are working on it.”

Besiktas’ pursuit of Vlahovic comes off the back of Mohamed Salah rejecting them in favour of a move to Trabzonspor.

Adali explained the Salah situation, “I watch with sadness that people seem to act like we were at the table and someone came to take him away. The Salah move didn’t go through because we did not want it to with those terms.”

Whether United elect to formalise their interest in Vlahovic is contingent upon the resolution of Zirkzee’s situation. Until that outcome becomes clear, the club will likely confine themselves to monitoring developments.
