English WAG Kelci Bowers admitted she was proud of her country after watching them lose to partner Marcos Senesi's Argentina at the World Cup. The 22-year-old is a footballer herself and played for England at youth level.

The Three Lions' painfully long spell of World Cup misery will carry on after their semi-final defeat at the hands of Lionel Scaloni's Argentina side. England took the lead in the final-four matchup, but late goals from Enzo Fernández and Lautaro Martínez bitterly ended their tournament.

No love is lost between both nations who share an intense rivalry , which made the match all the more perplexing for Bowers, who has represented England at international level but is dating Spurs defender Senesi , a member of Argentina's squad.

Senesi's partner was in the stands for Argentina's victory and whilst she celebrated with her beau post-match, on her Instagram story she reiterated her support for England and wrote: "Proud of my country."

Before the game, Bowers did declare that the situation she found herself in was unusual. She told The Times : "I grew up wearing an England shirt and had the privilege of representing England, so that connection will always be incredibly strong.

"[But] when your partner is playing in one of the biggest games of his career, naturally you want him to do well too. I'll be supporting Marcos personally while still feeling incredibly proud whenever I see England on a stage like this. I'm incredibly proud of him.

"Supporting Argentina, embracing the culture in Argentina and posting on my social media wearing the Argentina shirt is something that I've been doing. And I don't really feel like there's anything wrong with that."

Bowers met Senesi whilst at a photoshoot not long after joining Bournemouth . Senesi signed for Cherries in 2022 and left for Tottenham on a free transfer this summer. Bowers also departed the Vitality Stadium after the expiration of her contract in June.

"We were both invited to model the club's retro kit launch at an old American-style diner on the beachfront. It was actually my first week after signing for the club, and I hadn't really met anyone yet," he said.
