Fantasy Football Scout: Gameweek 3 hints, tips and advice

Brentford has teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice throughout the 2026/27 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season.

Scout will use its expertise to provide information, advice and gameweek tips that could help you stay on top of your mini-leagues.

A deserved opener from Kevin Schade (£6.0m) was almost enough to secure all three points and continue Brentford’s very promising start to the season.

The German cleverly flicked in Keane Lewis-Potter’s (£5.5m) cross just before half-time but, despite having comfortably more attempts (22 v 12), penalty-area efforts (17 v 6) and shots on target (5 v 2) than Leeds United, Keith Andrews’ side were denied the win by Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s (£6.0m) equaliser.

Igor Thiago (£8.0m) almost restored the lead immediately, with two efforts in quick succession. The Brazilian has done everything but score so far, missing a spot-kick in Gameweek 1 and spurning five close-range shots on Sunday.

However, his 1.6 million FPL owners may want to resist an early sale. The underlying numbers are encouraging and he netted twice in last season’s home victory over Sunderland, who are about to visit Gtech Community Stadium.

Kristoffer Ajer (£4.5m) accumulated 17 defensive contribution (DefCon) actions, meaning the Norwegian is one of only four defenders to have reached the threshold in both Gameweeks.

Similarly, midfielder Mamadou Sangaré (£5.7m) has achieved it twice, joined by Nathan Collins (£5.5m) on this occasion.

The Spotlight

New signing El Hadji Malick Diouf (£4.5m) was an unused substitute at Elland Road, having joined from West Ham United last Friday.

A left-back, he burst onto the scene in 2025/26 by collecting four FPL assists by the end of Gameweek 6, before adding two more away to Burnley and Liverpool. By the end of the season, only two defenders had registered more FPL assists.

While the 21-year-old didn’t score during his season with the Hammers, he netted an impressive seven times during the previous campaign at Slavia Prague.

Bees supporters could have a lot of fun watching Diouf and Michael Kayode (£4.6m) fly down the flanks.

Best of the Rest

Elsewhere, those who captained two-goal Erling Haaland (£15.5m) will have spent the weekend feeling relieved at their decision, until Bruno Fernandes’ (£12.0m) epic Sunday haul against Ipswich Town.

A hat-trick and an assist brought Fernandes 23 points.

Joining Haaland on a score of 13 were midfielders Pascal Gross (£5.5m) and Morgan Gibbs-White (£7.9m), who both combined a goal and an assist away from home.

Bryan Mbeumo (£8.0m), James Tarkowski (£6.0m) and Riccardo Calafiori (£5.6m) also ended Gameweek 2 on double figures.

In Demand

Another double-digit scorer was Rayan Cherki (£7.7m). His 14-point haul is fresh in the minds of managers buying ahead of Friday’s 6.30pm BST deadline.

There has been a rush to buy Manchester City players before they host Coventry City. The awkward part for some managers is that they moved early to beat Cherki’s price rise, selling either Fernandes or Mbeumo before the duo took Ipswich apart.

The Frenchman should start Gameweek 3 but comes with a longer-term risk. He was only a substitute in Gameweek 1 and, following the transfer window, competition for places is about to intensify.

Also popular are Newcastle United’s goalscorers against Tottenham Hotspur, Yoane Wissa (£6.1m) and Anthony Elanga (£6.1m).

That came after the pair combined for a goal on the opening day against Liverpool, with both seemingly rejuvenated after difficult first seasons on Tyneside.

Captaincy

The fairly split decision on whether to place the armband on Haaland or Fernandes is unlikely to be repeated this time.

Instead, the main question is whether to use a Triple Captain chip on Haaland. He has always scored at least once in Gameweek 3, including a hat-trick two seasons ago.

Those without a Man City attacker could perhaps choose either Fernandes or Alexander Isak (£9.0m).
