Fantasy Premier League: The players with the most FPL points after five gameweeks

Fantasy Premier League is officially on an extended break, so it’s as good a time as any to check in on which players are doing the best in the game.

We’ve listed the top five players who have racked up the most points so far after the first five gameweeks of the season.

=4. Erling Haaland (Man City) – 39pts

You can pretty much set your watch by Erling Haaland (£15.6m). As he has done every year he’s been in the Premier League, the big Norwegian has started off the campaign very well, scoring five goals in five. He has just the one double-digit haul though, which is on the low side for him, but he will doubtlessly finish the season with many of them.

=4. Kevin Schade (Brentford) – 39pts

Yes, that’s right: Kevin Schade (£6.2m) has as many points as the robot himself. The attacker has emerged as Brentford’s main man, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

3. Jayden Bogle (Leeds United) – 42pts

No one saw this coming. Jayden Bogle (£4.6m) has four clean sheets and two goals already, giving him an impressive 42 points. The defender was taken off before Newcastle and Brighton scored against Leeds, meaning he earned double-digit hauls in both of those matches.

Usually you would want your players to be on the pitch for 90 minutes every week, but this shows why it’s often a good thing to have a defender who gets regularly subbed off, because they can bank their clean sheet early.

Bogle has been playing very advanced at times too, joining the attack when Leeds are in the final third. He could well find the net a few more times this season, and with his ownership at just 6.8 per cent, he is a huge differential.

2. James Tarkowski (Everton) – 43pts

The ever-dependable James Tarkowski (£6.1m) has gone a bit under the radar this year, but he continues to deliver at Everton. The centre-back has helped the Toffees keep three clean sheets, scored a goal and created an assist as they remain unbeaten.

1. Pascal Groß (Brighton) – 47pts

Pascal Groß (£5.8m) is not just the best-value pick in the game, he is the best pick in the game full stop. The Brighton midfielder has always been a fairly reliable fantasy pick, particularly because he’s been priced cheaply. But he has been truly outstanding so far this term, registering three goals and four assists.
