Former Brazil star claims Neymar is set for stunning reunion with ex-Barcelona team-mates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at Inter Miami

Neymar will sign for Major League Soccer side Inter Miami in January after the expiration of his Santos contract, according to former Brazil international Felipe Melo.

The 34-year-old's contract at his boyhood club is set to expire in December, and he has previously indicated that he could retire from the game in its entirety when that happens.

However, Melo, who played 22 times for Brazil, has claimed that Neymar will link up with his former Barcelona team-mates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in Miami from the beginning of next year.

'I talked to a friend of mine who passed me some news about Santos before,' Melo said on YouTube. 'He told me Neymar is going to play in Miami. Starting in January, Neymar is going to Miami.

'If it happens, I was the first one to break the news here. Let's wait and see what happens.'

Neymar, Messi and Suarez famously formed a deadly trio dubbed 'MSN' at Barcelona for three seasons, before the Brazilian left for Paris Saint-Germain for a mammoth £198million.

During their time together, they became the deadliest attacking trio this sport has ever seen, scoring a remarkable 363 goals between them across three seasons.

Their first season as a trio saw them net a combined 122 goals and lift the Champions League, which Barcelona haven't managed to get their hands on since.

Messi joined David Beckham's project in Florida in 2023, after two difficult years in Paris alongside Neymar. The now 39-year-old has scored an outrageous 92 goals in 106 appearances for the club.

Suarez joined his former Blaugrana team-mate the same year, and has netted 52 times while donning the pink shirt. And now it appears a full reunion of the trio could be on the cards.

However, despite links, ahead of a Brazilian Cup clash with Remo – after which he was involved in a furious altercation with opposition officials – Neymar admitted he could call time on his playing career in December, when his contract at Santos expires.

Neymar returned to his boyhood club Santos from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal in January 2025 and has since scored 14 goals in 29 league appearances for the Brazilian outfit.

But the forward, who retired from international football last month after breaking down in tears on the pitch following Brazil's World Cup exit, remained coy on his future when discussing his next steps last week.

'I'm not thinking about stopping, nor do I know how long I'll carry on,' Neymar admitted in a video posted to his YouTube channel.

'I have a contract with Santos until December. I intend to see it through, to honour the Santos shirt as best I can, and then I'll think about it when my contract ends... whether I stay at Santos, move on, stop playing or carry on.

'I really don't know what I'm going to do. There's still a long way to go until December, so let's take it one step at a time.'
