From Barcelona's striker search to Liverpool's Salah successor - The transfer stories still to be resolved this summer

There are just days left of the transfer window, but there are plenty of stories that still need resolutions. Here are five transfer sagas that still need to be resolved before the deadline.

Barcelona's striker search

Barcelona need to sign a striker - or two - before the La Liga transfer window closes, having lost Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres this summer.

That duo combined for 40 goals last season, and their exits leave the Catalans short. Barcelona's number one focus has beenJulian Alvarez, but Atletico Madrid continue to shut the door. This week, Atleti said there is a zero percent chance of selling Alvarez to Barcelona.

Alternatives including Lautaro Martinez and Gabriel Jesus have been mentioned this week, with the Spaniards scrambling.

Arsenal's forward upgrade

Arsenal look well-positioned for a strong season, having added to their Premier League title-winning squad.

Mikel Arteta has insisted the Gunners remain 'very active' in the market, however, with a statement signing sought.Arsenal want to add a marquee attacker to their frontline, preferably as an upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli from the left.

An ambitious move for Vinicius Junior fell through, but both Bradley Barcola and Kenan Yildiz remain attractive options.

Everton's right-back saga

Everton's search for a right-back has been a long-running saga, with Seamus Coleman's decline not addressed for several seasons.

The Toffees head into the Premier League campaign without the addition of a recognised right-back, despite that being the clear priority when the window opened.

David Moyes has insisted Everton are on the hunt, with the Blues bidding for multiple options.

"We have identified a few right-backs that we like; we have bid for a few. We are right in there. We have got Jake O'Brien, Merlin Rohl did well in pre-season, Jimmy Garner was excellent there. We are certainly short on numbers, and have room to get a right-back.

"We are trying to do the right thing. We are looking at levels of players and trying to see if they are better than what we have in the building.

"We want that person to be someone who can help us improve."

A failure to get a deal done could lead to a revolt at Hill Dickinson.

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah successor

Finding a replacement forMohamed Salah is a tall order, with the Egyptian having been a unicorn in terms of output. Salah's exit was known well before the end of last season, but Liverpool are yet to sign a right-sided attacker to replace him.

Bradley Barcola remains the leading target but has a clear preference for the left, in a deal that would make Liverpool lopsided, with Victor Munoz, Cody Gakpo, and Rio Ngumoha all preferring that flank.

A scarcity of credible options has led to approaches for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh, a player of long-term interest but one currently sidelined through injury, andCrystal Palace's Ismaila Sarr.

Manchester City's Rodri replacement

Manchester City are also in the market to replace the irreplaceable, having reluctantly sanctioned the sale of Rodri to Barcelona.
