Fulham close to deal for Hugo Larsson from Eintracht Frankfurt

Fulham are close to agreeing a deal to sign Sweden midfielder Hugo Larsson from Eintracht Frankfurt.

According to NY Times, the 22-year-old has permission to travel to London for a medical as a move is pursued before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Larsson joined Frankfurt from Malmo in 2023 and has made 83 Bundesliga appearances since.

It has been a summer of change at Craven Cottage under new head coach Alvaro Arbeloa, who replaced Marco Silva after his contract expired in June.

If the transfer progresses, Larsson would join Shea Charles as a midfield addition, while Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios have arrived from Real Madrid this summer.

Larsson is a physical, athletic box-to-box midfielder who should suit the Premier League environment.

He is not a playmaker or cultured passer, but can score by arriving in the penalty area at the right moments and also provides defensive support out of possession.

He is not a classic ball-winner, yet still supports his defenders.
