Fulham star Muniz bravely reveals wife suffered miscarriage in emotional interview

Rodrigo Muniz bravely revealed that his wife suffered a miscarriage last season after scoring his first Premier League goal for Fulham in over a year on Saturday.
The striker, 25, salvaged a point for Fulham with a smart flicked finish at Craven Cottage against Newcastle. Prior to finding the net in the 1-1 draw, Muniz had not scored since August 2025, partly due to undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury last November.
Muniz, who was sidelined until February after going under the knife, has been in amongst the goals this season, scoring against West Ham and AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup.
But Saturday's strike ended his long wait for a Premier League goal. And he marked it by dedicating it to his baby, revealing that his wife is pregnant again after last year's heartbreak.

Speaking to club media, Muniz reflected: “Last season was really difficult for me. Now I can say it but I had the surgery, my wife was pregnant last season and unfortunately we lost the baby. But God is good all the time. And now she’s pregnant again. The goal was for my baby and I hope this season will be different than last season.”
Muniz has featured in eight of Fulham's 10 Premier League games under new head coach Alvaro Arbeloa but has failed to start in the league.
He went on to emphasise his desire to play a greater role for Fulham this term, adding: “I train hard every week to get opportunities to play and I want to play more. I cannot control that but I showed to the gaffer I want to play more. And I have to keep training hard for him to say, ‘Okay, now is your time’, and then I’m ready.

“To be a striker, you need to be ready to play five or ten minutes. Of course, I want to play more. And I want to start as well. We have a lot of players in the national team. We train with, I think, ten players.
“It’s really important because we cannot stay out for too long. And when we have time to work it’s really good – because it’s really important that the gaffer can show us what he wants and we have time to do it.”
