Fuming Andoni Iraola takes aim at 'unprofessional' fourth official after electric board breaking causes THREE-MINUTE delay and costs Liverpool a goal in home draw with Forest

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola was left aggrieved by a fourth-official fumble that cost his team a goal as they could only manage another draw to start the season.

New signing Victor Munoz equalised after Nottingham Forest had twice led through Dan Ndoye and a Morgan Gibbs-White penalty, with Alexander Isak also opening his account for the campaign.

But Iraola thought the second Forest goal was unfair given he was unable to make a substitution for three minutes due to the fourth official’s electric board not working and, when the changes should have occurred, the away team took a quick throw-in that led to the penalty being awarded.

‘I will analyse the penalty, but this cannot be a professional fourth official,’ he said.

‘It cannot take… I don’t know, three minutes (for him to ready the board). We’ve already given the subs’ numbers two or three minutes before.

‘I was already angry because in the previous stoppage we couldn’t make (the triple sub), and before the throw-in I said, “OK we’ll do it now”. But I don’t know (what happened).

‘They will have to explain it, but it has taken ages to not prepare two boards.’

It was quick thinking by Forest new boy Liam Delap but Iraola was frustrated that he should have been instead allowed to make his triple change after a lengthy delay. He would also argue that the changes might have helped his team defend the attack that led to the penalty.

Daily Mail Sport has approached the Premier League for comment over the fourth official incident.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will complete the £123million signing of Bradley Barcola in the next 24 hours. He is set to jet into England from Paris on Sunday ahead of a medical and five-year deal.

He could take the No29 shirt which he wears at Paris Saint-Germain after a character on the FIFA video game, Alex Hunter, who wore that number after rising up from park pitches to the top level.

Iraola said on Barcola, Liverpool’s third £100million-plus player: ‘I cannot tell you anything right now but it is true that there are things going on and that is normal.

Forest boss Oliver Glasner was delighted with his first point in charge and also discussed transfers, with his side on the verge of signing his former colleague Daniel Munoz from Crystal Palace. They also want Everton midfielder Harrison Armstrong and have discussed a £40million move for the 19-year-old.

Glasner was asked if it would be just those two arriving and said: ‘Could be more.

‘I have no idea. I have just played outside. I am full of emotions, very confident that we find the right players and characters and today everyone involved in the game deserves us to be talking about him. They deserve all the credit.

‘I will sleep when (the window) is closed and on Wednesday evening I will have a pint and celebrate the transfer window.’
