Gary Neville has made his prediction for Sunday’s feisty Premier League clash between his former side, Manchester United, and Leeds United.

It has been a turbulent few weeks for Michael Carrick’s side, who are now winless in their last five matches in all competitions after a midweek defeat to Atletico Madrid.

The turmoil around the club only intensified after the defeat in Madrid, with Lisandro Martinez launching a withering attack on the club’s lack of ambition and spending during the summer transfer window.

The Argentine defender has since apologised and been fined for his outburst, but his comments paint a picture of a divided club who have made yet another sluggish start to the season.

Against that backdrop, the Red Devils face a difficult trip to Elland Road this weekend to face a Leeds side who have lost just one league match all season.

Daniel Farke’s side proved a difficult test for the defending champions Arsenal at the Emirates last weekend before falling to a late defeat.

And Leeds will surely head into this clash buoyed by their performances against United last season, most notably a draw at home last January, which marked the end of Ruben Amorim’s tenure as head coach.

But despite that record and United’s patchy form, Neville still believes that his former side have enough firepower in forward areas to get a positive result.

Asked for his prediction on The Overlap, Neville said: ‘I am going 2-1 Man United.

‘To be honest, if you have Cunha, Mbuemo, Amad and Rashford, [you have a chance].’

Not everyone is as enthusiastic about United’s chances, with Paul Merson insisting Leeds fans would be ‘shocked’ if their side didn’t emerge with three points on Sunday.

‘This is a big, big, big football match,’ the former Arsenal midfielder told Sky Sports. ‘A big rivalry. And it’s one of Leeds’ biggest games.
