Rodrigo Muniz has singled out Harry Maguire as the ‘worst’ player to come up against in the Premier League.

The pair have already faced off once this season following Fulham and Manchester United’s stalemate at Craven Cottage back on September 20, though Muniz only featured for the last 11 minutes of the clash.

When put on the spot regarding his most difficult opponent, the Brazilian forward told Score 90: “I think for me, the worst to play [against] is Maguire. Maguire is unbelievable.

“All the time, he is like this [pushing] with you and when we play it’s a good fight because I’m strong and he’s strong. But I hate to play against him.”

Maguire has started all five Premier League games this campaign and played the full 90 minutes in each, while being rested for United’s Carabao Cup and Champions League openers against Brighton and Hove Albion and Sabah, respectively.

However, the 32-year-old is at risk of losing his starting spot once Matthijs de Ligt returns to the fold.

De Ligt, 27, is closing in on his long-awaited return to action from a back injury that has kept him sidelined since November 2025.

He partnered Maguire for several games prior to his setback, as Lisandro Martinez was injured.

Now that all centre-halves are poised to be available for the first time, it remains to be seen what partnership Michael Carrick will opt for each week – especially with both Ayden Heaven and Leny Yoro needing adequate game time to continue their development in the first team.

Maguire is out of contract at Old Trafford in June 2027, though the club do have the option of extending his stay by an additional 12 months.
