Gunners out to make it two wins from two as title defence continues in Birmingham

Arsenal will hope to make it two wins from two as they visit Aston Villa in the Premier League tonight.

The Gunners made an emphatic start to their title defence as they swatted Coventry City aside last Friday night, but they should expect stiffer opposition as they face Unai Emery’s Villa.

The Villans made a serious stutter to their season as they suffered a 4-0 defeat at Brighton, their showing a far cry from those that won them the Europa League last season.

Emery’s men are still working out how to cope with the losses of Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins, not to mention Ezri Konsa, who stands to make his Arsenal debut on return to his former club.

This tie ended in defeat for Arsenal last season. They visited Villa Park in December and came away with a frustrating 2-1 defeat, with Emi Buendia scoring a last-gasp winner deep in injury time.

The Spaniard came off the bench in December but may well get the nod here as Emery continues to grapple with all his summer exits.
